Auto clock-in at the job site

Per-employee automatic clock-in/out when a worker enters or leaves a job's geofence — who it's for and how to enable it.

Updated July 26, 2026

For trusted crews with fixed sites, Klees can punch automatically: arrive inside the job’s geofence → clock in; leave it → clock out. No taps at all.

Enabling it

Admin only

Auto clock is enabled per employee by a manager — it is not a company-wide or per-job switch, and workers can’t turn it on themselves.
  1. Open People → (person) → GPS & Time.
  2. Toggle Auto clock in/out at location.
  3. Make sure the person’s jobs have accurate addresses and geofences (see Jobs and Customers for the address validation map).

The worker needs location “Always” granted on their phone so the geofence can trigger in the background.

How it plays with the rules you already have

Auto clock is designed to not fight the rest of the system:

  • One open entry — if the worker is already clocked in (manually or on another device), entering a fence won’t double-clock them.
  • Geofence reminders — workers without auto clock still get the “You’ve arrived — clock in?” nudge; auto-clock workers skip the nudge and just punch.
  • Alerts and approvals run exactly the same; auto punches are flagged by source so managers can tell them apart.

Important

Auto clock trusts the fence. Keep the radius tight enough that driving past the site doesn’t trigger it — validate the pin on the job’s map and shrink the radius for urban sites.

Tip

Best fit: recurring routes and fixed facilities — janitorial night crews, plant staff, site supervisors. Poor fit: multi-stop days where the worker shouldn’t be on the clock at every stop.
