Every job in Klees can carry a geofence — a circle around the job site that the mobile app watches while your crew works. The fence powers three things: arrival and departure reminders, out-of-zone flags on the timesheet, and (if you turn it on) automatic clock-out when someone leaves and stays gone.

The default fence

New jobs get a 1-mile radius fence automatically. That sounds wide, but it’s deliberate: urban GPS bounces, parking is rarely at the front door, and a fence that false-alarms twice a day gets ignored by day three. Managers can tighten or widen the radius per job from the job’s detail page — a downtown high-rise might want a quarter mile; a highway resurfacing crew might want two.

Arrival and departure reminders

When a worker who isn’t clocked in walks into a job’s fence, their phone nudges them: “You’ve arrived at Riverside Site — clock in?” When a clocked-in worker leaves the fence, the reverse: “You’ve left Riverside Site — clock out?”

Departure warnings repeat every 5 minutes while the worker stays outside the fence and on the clock, so a missed first notification doesn’t turn into four hours of phantom time. The app also checks GPS accuracy before deciding someone “left” — a single low-accuracy reading in a basement or an elevator won’t trigger an exit.

GPS-loss protection

Phones die, get left in trucks, or lose signal in mechanical rooms. Klees watches for GPS silence while someone is on the clock:

At half the grace period, the worker gets a push: “We haven’t seen your location in a while — open the app to keep your shift running.”
If the company has auto clock-out on GPS loss enabled and the silence continues past the full grace period, the shift is closed automatically and the manager is notified.

Auto clock-out is off by default and per-company — some crews genuinely work in signal dead zones, and the pre-warning alone catches most forgotten phones.

Battery and privacy

Location is collected only while on the clock, at an interval tuned to confirm presence rather than trace every step. Off the clock, the app does not track. Workers can see every location Klees has recorded about them in the app under My Locations — the same data their manager sees, no more, no less.

What managers see

Timesheet entries carry an out-of-zone marker when a punch happened outside the job’s fence, and the Live Map colors out-of-zone workers amber in real time. Everything else — reminders, warnings, grace timers — happens on the worker’s phone and shows up only as cleaner punches.
